The Informatics Festival X (INFEST), organized by the Informatics Student Association (HMIF) of Universitas Syiah Kuala, successfully earned the Best Work Program Award at the annual Pekan Ilmiah Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (PIL MIPA) XXVI. After going through a series of presentations showcasing the major work programs from all student associations within FMIPA USK, HMIF’s flagship event was nominated and ultimately won first place for Best Work Program during the Awards Night on November 22, 2024.
INFEST X marks the 10th anniversary of the Informatics Student Association’s biggest annual event. Carrying the theme “Forging Ahead in the Digital Era: Unveiling Tomorrow’s Innovations,” the festival aimed to foster creativity and innovation in technology while strengthening collaboration among students, lecturers, and the community to adapt to the rapid developments of the digital age. The event took place from October 23 to 26, 2024, featuring a variety of exciting competitions and activities open to students, university participants, and the general public.
The opening ceremony was officially held on October 23, 2024, attended by the Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Alumni, Prof. Dr. Mustanir, M.Sc., and the Dean of FMIPA, Prof. Dr. Taufik Fuadi Abidin, S.Si., M.Tech., both of whom delivered inspiring speeches in support of the event’s success. The competitions included the Computer Olympiad of INFEST (COINS) for high school students, conducted via a web-based Computer-Based Test (CBT) system with Item Response Theory (IRT) scoring, the Mobile Legends Tournament and Speed Typing Contest for general participants, as well as a UI/UX Design Competition held online at the national university level, attracting enthusiastic participation from across Indonesia.
INFEST X also featured a series of educational Seminars and Tech Talks open to the public. The National Seminar on UI/UX carried the theme “UI/UX Combines with AI” and was conducted online, led by overseas graduate and field expert Aulia Nadila, who discussed the integration of UI/UX design with artificial intelligence. Additionally, Jurnalis J.H., S.T., M.B.A. from Indigo Space Telkom Aceh delivered an insightful Tech Talk titled “Start Your Dream: From Idea to Startup,” sharing his journey in building successful startups.
The Chairperson of INFEST X, Muhammad Firdaus, expressed his gratitude for the team’s outstanding efforts, stating, “This success was made possible by the exceptional dedication and teamwork of the organizing committee. Their commitment, passion, and perseverance have led HMIF to achieve multiple awards this year. This victory is not the end, but the beginning — a motivation and responsibility for all Informatics students to continue excelling and making Informatics proud across Aceh and beyond.”
