Banda Aceh, September 28, 2024 – The Informatics Student Association (HMIF) of Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), through its Department of Student Research and Development (PPM), successfully organized an inspiring event titled Linux Installation Workshop. With the theme “From Windows to Open Source: The First Step with Linux,” the event aimed to guide Informatics students through the basic steps of installing and using Linux. Dozens of Informatics students attended and actively participated in the activity, which featured Linux expert Diky Wahyudi as the main speaker.

In his opening remarks, M. Arkan Haris, the Head of the Organizing Committee, expressed his hope that the Linux Installation Workshop would benefit students by helping them explore the right field of interest for their future careers. He also encouraged participants to identify their strengths and interests, fostering the development of skilled and competent professionals in the field of Informatics.

The event began with an introduction to the fundamentals of Linux, including its open-source concept, system structure, and advantages compared to other operating systems. This session was followed by a hands-on Linux installation practice, where participants gained direct experience in installing and configuring the operating system.

After the practical session, participants took a post-test designed to sharpen their understanding and evaluate their grasp of the material presented. The speaker then elaborated on career opportunities and future prospects in technology fields related to Linux.

An interactive Q&A session followed, where participants enthusiastically asked questions. The speaker provided comprehensive and insightful answers, helping students deepen their understanding of the discussed topics.

As the event concluded, awards were presented to participants who asked the best questions as a token of appreciation for their active engagement. A certificate of appreciation was also presented to the speaker in gratitude for sharing his knowledge and experience throughout the workshop.

The event ended with a closing prayer and a group photo session to capture the memorable moment. It is hoped that this activity will serve as an inspiration and a first step for participants to continue developing their skills in technology—particularly in the world of Linux.
