Banda Aceh – Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) reaffirmed its commitment to advancing internationally recognized higher education through the implementation of the ASIIN international accreditation visitation for Cluster B, held on 7–8 May 2026 at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) USK. The Department of Informatics was among the study programs included in the accreditation process.
The ASIIN (Accreditation Agency for Study Programmes in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Mathematics) visitation marked an important strategic step for USK in strengthening academic quality, institutional governance, and graduate competitiveness at the global level. Throughout the visitation, the international expert panel conducted a comprehensive evaluation covering curriculum quality, learning systems, implementation of outcome-based education, research development, student support services, and international collaboration initiatives.
The accreditation process involved university leaders, program coordinators, academic staff, students, alumni, and industry partners in a series of discussions and evaluation sessions. Their active participation reflected the university’s collaborative commitment to continuous quality improvement and international academic standards.

As part of the visitation, the Department of Informatics presented various academic achievements and innovations that support technology-based education and industry-oriented learning. The ASIIN assessors also reviewed academic documents and visited several supporting facilities and laboratories within FMIPA USK, including the Information Systems and Database Laboratory, Computer Systems and Networks Laboratory, and Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory.

The assessment further highlighted student involvement in academic and organizational activities, the quality of research conducted by faculty members, collaboration with industry partners, and graduate readiness in responding to global workforce challenges. Discussions with students and alumni provided the assessors with valuable insights into the learning environment and academic culture within the Department of Informatics.
More than a formal evaluation process, the ASIIN visitation served as an important momentum for institutional reflection and continuous improvement in response to the evolving landscape of global higher education. Through this international accreditation initiative, USK demonstrated its dedication to developing an adaptive, innovative, and globally competitive education system aligned with technological advancement and societal needs.
The ASIIN international accreditation visitation is expected to further strengthen the global visibility of Universitas Syiah Kuala, particularly the Department of Informatics, while expanding opportunities for international partnerships, academic mobility, collaborative research, and graduate competitiveness in the international arena.
