Banda Aceh, September 12–13, 2024 – The Department of Informatics, Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), proudly hosted the 5th International Conference on Electrical Engineering and Informatics (ICELTICs 2024) in Banda Aceh. This year’s conference carried the theme “Harmonizing Human-Machine Synergy: Shaping the Future with Responsible AI for a Thriving Humanity” and served as an academic forum for discussing advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and data science.

The Chairperson of the Committee, Razief Perucha Fauzie Afidh, S.Si., M.Sc., stated that the success of this event was made possible through collaboration with the Association of Indonesian Higher Education in Informatics and Computing (APTIKOM).

“We are proud to announce that ICELTICs 2024 received 78 paper submissions from various countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, Tunisia, Germany, Slovenia, Bulgaria, India, Japan, and China. After a rigorous review process, 31 papers were accepted for presentation and will be published in the ICELTICs 2024 proceedings,” explained Razief.

The conference was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Prof. Dr. Taufik Fuadi Abidin, S.Si., M.Tech., and the Rector of Universitas Syiah Kuala, Prof. Dr. Ir. Marwan. In his opening remarks, Prof. Marwan expressed his deep appreciation to the organizing committee.

“Thank you to the committee for inviting distinguished speakers and providing a high-quality platform for discussion and knowledge exchange,” said Prof. Marwan. He also emphasized that the conference serves as a valuable opportunity for academics, researchers, and practitioners to strengthen international collaboration and promote responsible technological innovation for a better future.

The conference featured several distinguished keynote speakers from various countries, including:

  1. Dr. Zakaria Maamar – Professor and Dean of the College of Computing and Information Technology, University of Doha for Science and Technology, Qatar.
  2. Dr. Chutiporn Anutariya – Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Information and Communications Technologies, Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand.
  3. Dr. Said Mirza Pahlevi – Head of the Center for Research and Development of ICT Application and Information & Public Communication, Ministry of Communication and Informatics, Indonesia.
  4. Prof. Stephan Chalup – Professor at the School of Information and Physical Sciences (Data Science and Statistics), The University of Newcastle, Australia.

ICELTICs 2024 is expected to further strengthen international collaboration and make a significant contribution to global technological development. Through this annual conference, the Department of Informatics USK reaffirms its commitment to fostering innovation, research excellence, and responsible advancement in the fields of artificial intelligence and informatics.
