Informatics students have once again achieved a remarkable accomplishment at the national-level Data Science Competition A Renewal Agent 7.0, organized by the Department of Information Technology, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember. The competition was held on February 28, 2026, and brought together top teams from across Indonesia.
The team “Info Jastip DM,” consisting of Achmad Atha Zayyan (team leader), Khalisha Adzraini Arif, and Muhammad Faruqi, successfully advanced to the final round and secured a position in the Top 5. This achievement highlights the students’ strong capabilities and competitiveness in the field of data science and artificial intelligence at the national level.
In the competition, the team presented a project titled “Implementation of UNet++ Architecture with EfficientNet-B5 Encoder for Road Damage Segmentation in Digital Images.” The project focuses on developing an artificial intelligence-based system to automatically detect and identify potholes from digital images.
The system utilizes a deep learning approach by combining the UNet++ architecture with EfficientNet-B5, enabling accurate image segmentation. This method allows the system to clearly identify and outline damaged areas by recognizing the shape and edges of road surface defects.
This technology is designed to support the identification of road damage, which is often carried out manually. By implementing this system, the process of monitoring road conditions can be performed more efficiently and accurately, while also supporting better decision-making in infrastructure maintenance and repair. The success of the “Info Jastip DM” team in reaching the final stage and securing a Top 5 position at a national competition is expected to inspire other students to continue innovating and excelling, particularly in applying artificial intelligence to solve real-world problems.
