Banda Aceh – The Informatics Student Association (HMIF) of Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), through its Department of Social Affairs (SOSMAS), organized the Orphanage Visit 2026 under the theme “Informatics Reaches Out: Spreading Compassion, Creating Happiness” on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the Yayasan Kesejahteraan Masyarakat Aceh (YAKESMA) Orphanage in Kajhu. The annual community service program was designed to foster empathy, social responsibility, and a spirit of giving among students while strengthening their engagement with the local community.
The event began with an opening ceremony, followed by a recitation of the Holy Qur’an and welcoming remarks from the Chair of the Organizing Committee, the President of HMIF, a representative of the Informatics Study Program faculty, and the head of the YAKESMA Orphanage. As a token of appreciation for the partnership, HMIF presented a certificate of appreciation to the orphanage before concluding the opening session with a group photo.
In addition to organizing recreational and educational activities with the children, HMIF USK donated food packages to support the orphanage’s daily needs. The donation was symbolically handed over by the HMIF President to the orphanage’s management as an expression of the organization’s commitment to social care and community service.
The event brought together 72 participants, including HMIF students from the 2023 and 2024 cohorts, orphanage staff, and the children. The activities were carried out in a warm and friendly atmosphere, encouraging interaction, cooperation, and meaningful connections among all participants.
Through the Orphanage Visit 2026, HMIF USK hopes to make a positive contribution to the orphanage while inspiring students to continue embracing compassion, volunteerism, and community engagement as part of their personal and academic development.
