The Department of Informatics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Syiah Kuala (FMIPA USK), successfully hosted the 6th International Conference on Electrical Engineering and Informatics (ICELTICs) on October 28–29, 2026, in Banda Aceh, Indonesia. Held biennially, this international conference has reached its sixth edition, serving as a platform for academics, researchers, practitioners, and professionals to share knowledge, present research findings, and exchange ideas and innovations in the field of informatics.
The Chair of the Organizing Committee, Dr. Ir. Irvanizam, S.Si., M.Sc., IPM., ASEAN Eng., explained that ICELTICs 2026 was organized by the Department of Informatics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Syiah Kuala, in collaboration with several institutions and organizations. The conference collaborated with the Association of Informatics and Computer Science Higher Education (APTIKOM) and received support from the IEEE Indonesia Section as a Technical Co-Sponsor (TCS). Additional support was provided by the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Research Center (DSAI-RC), Universitas Syiah Kuala, and the Leiden Institute of Advanced Computer Science (LIACS), Leiden University, the Netherlands.
He reported that ICELTICs 2026 received a total of 72 paper submissions from various countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, the United States, India, Morocco, Algeria, and Abu Dhabi.
“Following a comprehensive review process conducted by the committee, 31 papers were accepted for presentation and inclusion in the ICELTICs 2026 proceedings,” he stated.
The theme of ICELTICs 2026, “Intelligent Systems for a Sustainable Future: Bridging Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, and Data Informatics,” highlights the role of intelligent systems, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), integrated with engineering and data informatics to develop innovative solutions to future challenges in a sustainable manner.
In his opening remarks, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Heru Fahlevi, S.E., M.Sc., Ak., CA, emphasized the significant role of artificial intelligence, engineering, and data informatics in transforming how society understands problems, develops solutions, and makes decisions.
“Artificial intelligence, engineering, and data informatics have brought significant transformations in the way we understand various challenges, develop solutions, and make decisions. When effectively integrated, these three fields offer tremendous opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen resilience, and support sustainable development across various sectors of life,” he stated.
He also expressed his appreciation to the organizing committee for bringing distinguished speakers to the conference and providing a high-quality platform for discussion and the exchange of ideas.
The Vice Rector further expressed his hope that ICELTICs 2026 would serve as a productive and inspiring event for all participants.
ICELTICs 2026 featured three distinguished keynote speakers: Dr. A. Fachri Radjab, S.Si., M.Si., Director of Climate Change at the Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG); Prof. Dr. Ir. Fons J. Verbeek, Professor of Imaging and Bioinformatics at the Leiden Institute of Advanced Computer Science (LIACS), Leiden University; and Dr. William Chandra Tjhi, Deputy Director of AI Products at AI Singapore.
Through ICELTICs 2026, Universitas Syiah Kuala reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening international academic collaboration, promoting research and innovation, and contributing to the development of intelligent technologies for a sustainable future.
